Climate change rally 2009
On Saturday 13 June 2009, national Climate Change rallies were held across Australia. Students and staff from La Trobe University joined over 4000 others at the State Library for the Melbourne Rally, calling to the government to act on climate change. La Trobe student Marcella Brassett collected email addresses from attendants of the conversation between Tim Flannery and Robert Manne to recruit students to join in the rally. She then organised a group to meet outside the State Library. La Trobe officials stepped in to help. The Sustainability Task Force posted a notice in Uni News, and Dean Casey, SRC Environment Officer, promoted the event. Marg Pittaway from Marketing and Promotions arranged banners, flags and a photographer to help with the publicity of the event.
