Eighth Biennial National Conference of the Association for Academic Language and Learning (AALL)New Members' Roundtable DiscussionThrough the John Grierson Grant, AALL will hold a New Members' Roundtable at the 2007 AALL Conference "How Do We Communicate?" at La Trobe University from November 29-30. The New Members' Roundtable is designed to introduce new members to each other and to the profession, and to provide a forum for an introductory discussion of issues relevant to AALL professionals. To facilitate this Kerry O'Regan's LAS 2005 conference paper has been selected, entitled "Theorising What We Do: Defamiliarise the University". This paper is available in PDF at: http://academicskills.anu.edu.au/las2005/papers/oregan.pdf. The intention is that new members attending the Roundtable read this piece so that they can effectively discuss some issues from a common basis of understanding. If you are a new member of AALL you are warmly invited to the Roundtable: O'Regan's piece should be a thoughtful and stimulating preparation for it. If you have any queries please email chad.habel@flinders.edu.au.
